“Culture is not a perk or a talking point — it’s the actual foundation.”
Recently, Dana Nichols and Mel Burden from Network Headquarters joined five Hope Ignites alumni in Las Vegas for the For All Summit.
The For All Summit is a three-day conference that brings more than 2,000 leaders from over 700 organizations together to examine how high-trust cultures drive real organizational performance.
The Summit isn’t built for inspiration alone. It hands attendees concrete strategies for workplace transformation, shows how top-performing companies build inclusive, people-first cultures, and gives them direct access to keynote speakers who are sitting CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.
A heartfelt thank you to Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. Michael is a remarkable friend of our organization, and we are honored that he invited our staff and alumni as his guests. We are equally grateful to Joe Koenig and Juanita Logan and her team at World Wide Technology (WWT) for making the introduction and for their continued commitment to creating life-changing experiences for our collegians and alumni.
The trip was full of highlights — time with Michael and the WWT team, the iconic Strip, and the kind of community-building that only happens outside conference sessions. But the most unforgettable part was watching the Summit unfold through the eyes of our alumni: Pelarr Edwards (New Orleans), Michelle Tsang (San Francisco), Becky Molina (Phoenix), Luis Mendez (Chicago), and Kenneth Amos (Northeastern Ohio). They showed up curious, confident, and invested in their own growth — asking bold questions and forging meaningful connections.
What they brought back was profound and personal. Luis Mendez, who is actively building his own team, found the leadership lessons immediately useful. “The biggest thing I’m taking away is that culture is not a perk or a talking point — it’s the actual foundation,” he said. A leader’s environment, he added, dictates what their people can accomplish.

Pelarr Edwards, a Residential Counselor at Hope Ignites, was struck by how top organizations build supportive environments. “One of my key takeaways was the importance of intentional communication, employee recognition, and creating spaces where staff feel valued and heard,” she reflected.
Dr. Angela Duckworth’s keynote on grit and situational agency left a lasting mark. Michelle Tsang tied it back to her own path: “That really resonated with me. It’s a callback to why I joined Hope Ignites — to use this space and these resources to be college and career ready.”
For Kenneth Amos, attending the Summit and seeing Las Vegas for the first time felt like a “dream come true.” He drew inspiration from Dr. Duckworth’s framing of a growth mindset and from Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian’s discussion of initiatives that help underprivileged youth access resources and jobs. “I understood how embracing my environment and the people around me is crucial for personal growth and success,” Kenneth said.

Experiences like the For All Summit are exactly why intentional exposure matters. Strong partnerships open doors, expand what feels possible, and help our alumni see themselves clearly — as the leaders who will build the great workplace cultures of tomorrow.
